Muscat, January 27 (QNA) – Qatar’s Nasser Al Attiyah won the stages of the second day of the 27th edition of the Oman International Rally, the first round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (Merc) the 2023 season, which witnesses the participation of 16 teams.

Although Al Attiyah won all the six stages that were held today in the rally, he finished seventh in the overall standings and he became far from winning the title after the rally officials imposed a second five-minute fine on him. A suspended fine was imposed on the Volkswagen crew for a seat belt violation.

Al Attiyah, ranked seventh with a total time of 1.29.36 hours, 11.27 minutes behind the leader, the Omani driver Abdullah Al Rawahi and his Jordanian co-driver Ata Al Hmoud in a Skoda Fabia, with a time of 1.18.08 hours.

The rally scheduled to conclude on Saturday evening, where the participants compete in six stages, consisting of two passages in the areas of Al Murayrat, Al Misfah and Al Milayynah. (QNA)
