Doha, January 30 (QNA) – The opening ceremony of “Visit Qatar” Freestyle Kite World Cup 2023, the first world tour organized by the Global Kitesports Association (GKA) affiliated to Qatar Airways (Qatar Airways GKA), was held Monday at Fuwairit beach resort.

The ceremony was attended by most of the 24 contestants representing 13 countries besides Qatar: the UAE, Egypt, the USA, France, Italy, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and the Dominican Republic.

The round competitions will start on Tuesday until Feb. 4th amidst the participation world’s best Kitesurfers, including the world’s No.1 Gianmaria Coccoluto and Mikaili Sol.

Qatar will be represented by Rashid Al Mansoori, the Qatar kitesurfing team player, who affirmed his readiness to participate in competitions, present high levels, and achieve positive results.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Mansoori said that the Qatar tour is his second global after one of the world tours in Riyadh.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch the world championship competitions for free, as they will be able to enjoy the impressive shows of freestyle kitesurfing.

Last year witnessed the announcement of Qatar Tourism as the official tourism partner of the Kitesurfing World Tour of the Global Kitesports Association (GKA) for three years and Qatar Airways as the title partner and official airline sponsor.
