Doha, January 31 (QNA) – The first edition of Ooredoo Qatar Padel championship will start at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Wednesday. It will continue until Feb. 5, with the participation of 90 teams, including prominent players from the national teams.

Sponsored by Ooredoo Qatar, the organizing committee allocated valuable prizes for the winners of the first places in the various competing categories.

Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation Tariq Zainal said that the tournament will encourage the practice of Padel sports and will further contribute to promoting the game at the regional and local levels as well as helping to discover young Qatari talents.

In a press statement, Zainal said that the federation is looking forward to a busy week of strong competitions in the various categories of the tournament, noting the organization of the first edition of this tournament sponsored by Ooredoo Qatar, a national company supporting sports and community development.

Zainal affirmed the federation’s confidence that the existing partnership with Ooredoo Qatar will achieve its goals in enabling Qatari players to continue to shine and create an appropriate atmosphere that facilitates the discovery of talented people as well as the advancement of society.

Director of the Social Responsibility, Sponsorship and Media at Ooredoo Moza Khalid Al Muhannadi noted the great development in the Padel sport at the regional level in line with the company’s vision on sports excellence and on community participation in sports activities, stressing that the tournament constitutes an opportunity for all members of the community to engage in sports activities and encourage their preferred teams.
