Doha, February 03 (QNA) – The finals of the Arabian Peninsula show within the 3rd edition of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF-2023), which is being held under the generous patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, will be held on Saturday.

KIAHF 2023 carries a total prizemoney of QAR 17,083,500 and has the participation of 18 countries. Organized by the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in cooperation with Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC), the KIAHF 2023 continues until Feb. 11 at Katara Corniche.

Day 3 competitions among horses in the qualifying rounds were strong. Doha Stud’s mares Safiya Al Rayyan and Zawaher Fila claimed the first places in the Mares 4-6 years and Mares 7-10 years old categories respectively. Maisa Al Nasser of Al Nasser Stud was declared as best in the Mares 11+ years old category. D Omnia of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud was a close second. Mesfer Mohamed Al Hajri-owned Deema Al Nasser finished third.

In a statement, HE Secretary-General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon Sheikh Ahmed bin Noah Al-Thani praised the large participation of horse owners from within and outside Qatar during the qualifying which saw strong competition, noting that KIAHF has become one of the largest festivals in the region, and carries a high reputation.

He added that the success achieved by the festival in the past two versions had had a great impact on the owners keenness to be present in this edition which has also achieved success since the very first day.

He also praised the great cooperation between the parties organizing the festival, foremost of which is Katara, with the QEF and the QREC, appreciating the efforts of the Qatari cadres who oversee the organization of the festival.

His Excellency also appreciated the supervision of the international arbitration committee which has a long experience in the field of horse shows, saying that horses at KIAHF 2023 are judged by a team of international judges of European Conference of Arabian Horse Organization (ECAHO) according to international rules and standards.
