Doha, February 05 (QNA) – HE President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi said that Ashghal is in the process of shifting towards total reliance on modern technology in the implementation of projects, which reduces manpower and enhances quality and safety standards.

During his speech at the opening of the 2nd World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET), which started today at Qatar University, Dr. Al Muhannadi said that Ashghal has a plan to shift, starting 2024, towards relying entirely on modern technology in its various projects, indicating that the Authority has organized a number of workshops in this regard and looks forward to achieving this plan, which will reflect positively on the various dimensions related to projects.

Ashghal was able, during the past ten years, to complete 7,000 to 8,000 projects in various infrastructure sectors, and it is in the process of shifting from a project implementation strategy to asset management, which requires the use of digital technology, he said.

He praised achievements made during the past ten years in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, voicing Ashghal’s pride in its contribution to the success of organizing the World Cup and building a sustainable infrastructure.

With regard to the challenges, he explained that Ashghal is currently focusing on ways to realize community satisfaction by implementing projects that avoid or reduce noise and pollution, and provide temporary alternatives awaiting the implementation of projects that leaves a legacy for future generations.
