Doha, February 14 (QNA) – Qatar Chamber (QC) discussed Tuesday the trade and economic relations between Qatar and Canada, and ways to strengthen partnerships between businessmen and companies from both countries, at an introductory ceremony held by the Canadian Embassy in Qatar at the Mondrian Hotel with the aim to help a number of Canadian companies specialized in meat and seafood products promote themselves in the Qatari market.
Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that Qatar and Canada are associated with distinguished and fast-developing relations between Qatar and Canada in all fields, especially in the economic and commercial aspects, noting that there are many agreements and MoUs signed between them in various sectors, which reflects their joint keenness to strengthen their relations in order to achieve common goals and aspirations.
As for their trade volume, Al Kuwari said that it amounted to QR 620 million in 2021, and QR 565 million in the first nine months of 2022, indicating that the private sector could play a key role in increasing trade volume between both friendly countries.
QC First Vice-Chairman also reviewed investment climate in Qatar and incentives offered by the State for foreign investors, as well as the most important sectors in which the Canadian private sector can establish businesses in.
Al Kuwari stressed that Qatar Chamber supports enhancing cooperation between Qatari and Canadian companies, inviting both countries’ businessmen to take advantage from distinguished relations between them and establish economic and commercial partnerships and alliances whether in Qatar or Canada.
For her part, HE Ambassador of Canada to the State of Qatar Isabelle Martin pointed out that the meeting aims at introducing the Canadian high-quality food products and exploring opportunities to forge partnerships with Qatari suppliers.
She expressed the hope to see more Canadian companies in Qatar, noting that Canadian food products are of high quality and there is a great opportunity for private sectors in both countries to establish new alliances that contribute to developing their bilateral trade exchange.
Her Excellency also praised the Qatar Chamber’s participation in the ceremony and its efforts in enhancing commercial cooperation between both countries.
