Doha, February 14 (QNA) – The State of Qatar’s diplomatic, consular and representative missions abroad organized various sporting activities on the occasion of the 12th edition of the National Sport Day (NSD), under the slogan “The Choice is Yours”.
In Brussels, the State of Qatar’s mission to the European Union and NATO organized a sporting event, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the European Union and NATO Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki, the diplomatic staff, the military representative in the mission and local employees.
The event included various outdoor sports activities, as well as competitions in one of the indoor gyms.
In his speech on this occasion, HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the European Union and NATO hailed the State of Qatar’s announcement of an annual NSD, stressing the importance of practicing sports and its benefits to individuals and society.
In London, the State of Qatar’s embassy to the UK partnered with the Sisterhood FC organization, which seeks to enable Muslim women to engage in football activities, on the occasion of the country’s NSD.
Under the partnership, the State of Qatar provided GBP 20,000 to support the growth of Sisterhood FC. The fund will be used to cover the costs of football clothing, renting stadiums, developing outreach programs, and communication to raise awareness about the organization among Muslim girls from all over the UK, and increase their involvement in football.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the UK Fahd bin Mohammed Al Attiyah attended a friendly football match between the embassy staff team and the organization’s team, in the presence of the diplomatic staff, local employees, organization members, media representatives, as well as Qatari students residing in London.
Various sports activities were held at the Westway Sports Center, including climbing, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and yoga.
The embassy also sponsored the annual Battersea Park Marathon for a distance of 5 and 10 kilometers, with the participation of more than 500 runners
In Beijing, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the People’s Republic of China organized a sporting event on the occasion of the country’s NSD in the Olympic Green in Chaoyang district, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the People’s Republic of China Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Dehaimi, diplomats and staff.
In a speech on this occasion, HE the Ambassador stressed the importance of the NSD, which reflects the awareness of the State and its wise leadership of the importance of consolidating the values of sport to build a strong and healthy society, pointing out that the State of Qatar became a symbol of sport at the global level after the success of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The event included a variety of sports activities, including football matches, table tennis, running, and others.
In Canberra, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Australia organized a sporting event with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Australia Saad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, diplomats and local staff. The event included various sports activities.
In Seoul, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Korea organized a sporting event, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Korea Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Hamer, diplomats and embassy staff, as well as ambassadors and diplomats from sisterly Arab embassies to Korea.
The event, which was held in the multi-sports hall in Dongjak District, featured various sports activities, including volleyball and table tennis.
In Tashkent, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a sporting event, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Uzbekistan Hassan bin Hamza Hashim and the embassy staff.
In Vienna, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Austria and the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna held a sporting event, in a sports center in the Austrian capital, with the participation of diplomats and the embassy staff.
Acting Charge d’Affairs at the embassy Jamal bin Abdul Rahman Al Jaber, said in a speech on this occasion that the NSD confirms the State’s keenness to encourage healthy lifestyles within society, and to consolidate the sports culture.
In Spain, the Consulate General of the State of Qatar in the Spanish city of Barcelona organized a sporting event, with the participation of HE Consul General of the State of Qatar in Barcelona Mohammed bin Sami Al Subaey, diplomats, local staff and their families. The event included a football match.
In Manila, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of the Philippines held a sporting event, with the participation of Acting Charge d’Affaires Mohammed bin Yousef Al Malki and Second Secretary at the embassy Hassan Muhanna Al Ajmi, in addition to local employees.
The event included various sports activities in football, volleyball, games and entertainment competitions.
In Tehran, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Iran held a sporting event, with the participation of diplomats and employees.
In The Hague, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands organized a sporting event on the occasion of the country’s NSD. In a speech on this occasion, Acting Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy Hanadi Al Shafei highlighted the State of Qatar’s pioneering announcement of a national sport day to stress the importance of sport and its role in the lives of individuals and societies.
In San Salvador, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of El Salvador held a sporting event on the occasion of National Sport Day (NSD). The event included various sports activities, such as walking, mountaineering, and cycling.
In Djibouti, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Djibouti held a sporting event on the occasion of NSD, with the participation of Acting Charge d’Affaires Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Shuraim, and a number of guests and embassy staff. The event included various sports activities, such as football and walking.
In Bangkok, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Thailand held a sporting event on the occasion of NSD at the Panda FC club, with the participation of members of the embassy and the Qatari medical office. The event included physical exercises and a football match.
In Mogadishu, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Somalia organized a sporting event on the occasion of NSD, with the participation of Acting Charge d’Affaires Hamad Rashid Al Marri and the embassy staff.
In a speech on this occasion, the Acting Charge d’Affaires stressed the NSD’s importance, noting that it aims to encourage and support the participation of youth and all groups in sports.
In Yangon, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar organized a sporting event on the occasion of NSD, with the participation of Acting Charge d’Affaires Abdulaziz bin Yousuf Jolo and the embassy staff.
In a speech on this occasion, the Acting Charge d’Affaires affirmed that NSD comes in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which encourages everyone to participate periodically in sports activities to promote physical and mental health.
The activities of the event varied, including football, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and free running.
In Dhaka, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh organized a sporting event on the occasion of NSD with the participation of diplomats and embassy employees.
In Ashgabat, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Turkmenistan held a sporting event on the occasion of NSD in the Olympic City, with the participation of embassy staff and members of the Olympic City.
The event included competitions in football, basketball, table tennis, and running.
In Brussels, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Kindom of Belgium organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Khalid bin Fahd Al Hajri, the diplomatic staff, the military attaché and embassy staff. The function event included walking and cycling.
In Dar es Salaam, the Qatari EMbassy in Tanzania also organized a sporting event, marking the NSD, with the participation of HE Qatar’s Ambassador to Tanzania Hussein bin Ahmed Al Humaid and the embassy’s staff. HE the Ambassador addressed the functions, that included swimming, cycling, football and walking, saying that the NSD comes within the framework of the State of Qatar’s attention to promoting sports activities that enhance physical and mental health, reduce the risk of diseases, in addition to reviving and strengthening work values through team spirit.
In Sofia, Qatari Embassy in Bulgaria organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Bulgaria Fahd bin Ibrahim Al Mushiri and local staff at the embassy. The event included sports activities, such as walking and jogging.
In Bucharest, the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Romania organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of members of the embassy, a number of Romanian officials and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Romania.
In New Delhi, The Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of India held a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of diplomatic members and local employees.
Acting Chargé d’Affairs at the Qatari Embassy in India Ali bin Mohamed Al Badi, referred in a speech to the State’s attention to sports and athletes, pointing out that this is one of the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The event included various sports activities such as football, handball, cricket and walking in addition to some other games and exercises.
In Athens, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Greece held a sporting event on the occasion of NSD, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hellenic Republic, Walid bin Mohamed Al Emadi, along with a number of Arab ambassadors accredited to Greece and members of the embassy.
In Sarajevo, the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, that featured a football match between a team of Bosnia and Herzegovina national team veterans and the embassy team.
In Bamako, the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Mali organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of members of the embassy. The event included a number of different sports activities.
In Paris, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the French Republic organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of HE Qatar’s Ambassador to France Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, and all members of the mission, including diplomats and local employees.
HE the Ambassador addressed the function, which was held at “Parc Monceau” park in Paris, stressing the significance of the NSD in raising awareness of the importance of sport in daily life, and in encouraging regular exercise.
In Algiers, the Qatari Embassy in Algeria organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of members of the diplomatic mission, the military attache’ and the embassy’s, in the presence of a number of Algerian officials and representatives of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and diplomatic missions accredited to Algeria.
In a speech at the function, HE Qatar’s Ambassador to Algeria, Abdulaziz Ali Al Naama, stressed that the idea of NSD highlights the State’s attention to investment in the human being. “This idea encourages making sport a way of life,” he said.
In Nouakchott, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of Acting Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy Fahd Salem Al Dosari and the embassy’s staff. The event featured a variety of sports activities, including football, walking, and jogging.
In Madrid, the Qatari Embassy in Spain organized a sporting event on the occasion of the National Sport Day, in which HE Qatar’s Ambassador to Spain Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, diplomats and embassy staff participated.
The event included a mini-tournament in padel in addition to football and table tennis matches.
In Cairo, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of HE the State of Qatar’s Ambassador to Egypt, Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi, and the diplomatic staff and embassy staff. In a speech on this occasion, HE the Ambassador stressed the interest that the State of Qatar attaches to sport, pointing out that it Qatar has devoted within its general agenda a state of openness and aspiration to improve relations between nations through sport. His Excellency indicated that during the celebration of this day, many events are organized in cooperation with all institutions in the State of Qatar.
In Accra, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Ghana organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, with the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Ghana Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Homaid, diplomats and embassy staff. The event included walking and strength training. In N’Djamena, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Chad organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD, in the presence of members of the embassy. The event included a football match.
In Amman, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan organized a sporting event on the occasion of the NSD. The event was attended by HE Speaker of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal Al Fayez, ambassadors of a number of Arab and foreign countries, members of the Qatari diplomatic mission, and a number of Qatari and Jordanian personalities.
His Excellency the State of Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani stressed in a speech the depth of the Qatari-Jordanian relations embodied in all fields, especially sports. He pointed out that the Sport Day of the State of Qatar, which is an unprecedented and unique initiative in the State of Qatar, aims to raise awareness of the importance of sport and its role in the life of societies. The event included a football match between a team of embassy staff and a team of retired players, as well as an age-group basketball match.

The event included various sporting activities.
In Asmara, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Eritrea organized a sporting event marking the NSD in the presence of a number of members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps and UN representatives to Eritrea. In his speech, the Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Eritrea Khalifa bin Thani Al Zarraa stressed that the State of Qatar has given great attention to sports and designated an annual sport day to encourage the society to practice sports, making it a main lifestyle.
