Doha, April 01 (QNA) – Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovovic spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 18 match against Al Shamal.
“The importance of the match lies in the need to win and return to the winning path after we suffered losses in the last two rounds, against Qatar SC and Al Wakrah,” he said.
“It was necessary to take advantage of the break to equip the players and prepare the team to present a distinguished technical level against Al Shamal. Our goal in this match would be to win and return to the winning path,” Novovic added.
“I have full respect for the Al Shamal team and its ambitions in the league, but I focus on my team only and not on our competitors. I believe that Al Ahli, with their high spirit and desire for distinguished performance and results, are ready to face any team and achieve the result that we seek. The technical staff of the team worked in the past period to prepare the players in order for the squad to be in full technical strength for the match,” he said.
For his part, Al Shamal coach Wesam Rizik said: “We are happy with the return of the league after a break, during which we prepared the team in the best way for the important match against Al Ahli.
“Our players are fully prepared for the Al Ahli match and we seek to collect the three points. We hope that success will be with us in this game, which will not be easy at all,” he stressed
“It was a great opportunity for the injured players to recover. We were suffering from many absences due to injuries, but the break was a good time for them. Therefore, the squad will be full in the Al Ahli match,” Wesam added.
“We realize that facing Al Ahli will not be easy in view of the competitor’s strength and ambition to obtain the best possible position in the league table. We will play for victory and collect the three points, and I believe that focus will be our greatest weapon in this difficult game,” he said adding “We will play all the upcoming matches as cup finals. I trust our players and the extent of their awareness and their responsibility.” (QNA)
