London, August 16 (QNA) – Arsenal, the Premier League runner-up from last season, announced today that their defender, Jurrien Timber, has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The London club stated in a release that after undergoing examination by specialized consultants last Saturday, Jorn Timber’s injury was confirmed to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The club affirmed that he will undergo surgery in the coming days and will be absent for a lengthy period of time.

Timber, who recently joined Arsenal from Ajax during the current transfer window, had to leave the match against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League opener last Saturday, just five minutes into the second half. This came after he sustained the injury towards the end of the first half. (QNA)
