Melbourne, October 03 (QNA) – The Australian Open will start on Sunday and be held over 15 days instead of 14 for the first time next year in a bid to avoid night matches finishing in the early hours of the morning, organizers said.

“We’ve listened to feedback from players and fans and are excited to deliver a solution to minimize late finishes while continuing to provide a fair and equitable schedule on the stadium courts,” tournament director Craig Tiley said.

From Jan. 14 to 28, 2024, the Australian Open will take place in Melbourne, kicking off a new Grand Slam season.

With the new changes, the tournament’s first round will last for three days, instead of the previous two. (QNA)
