Champions in 2015, Australia will begin their Group B campaign against India on January 13 with head coach Graham Arnold, in charge for a second successive AFC Asian Cup, said Australia will enter the tournament with the expectation of lifting the coveted trophy again.
Armed with a squad brimming with confidence after a Round of 16 appearance at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, experience will not be an issue for the Socceroos in a group that also consists Syria and Uzbekistan.
Having booked their place in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 with a perfect record in the second round of the Qualifiers, Australia will be expected to embark on a run deep into the tournament.
Progress from the group stage should not be an issue but having suffered elimination at the quarter-final stage in 2019, Arnold will remind his players to not take their Group B opposition for granted. (QNA)
