Dubai, February 21 (QNA) – No 7 seed Marketa Vondrousova advanced to the last eight of the Dubai Open after beating No 12 seed Russian Liudmila Samsonova (6-2, 6-2) on Wednesday.

The Czeck woman needed 75 minutes to set up a quarter-finals clash with the winner between Romanian Sorana Cirstea and Croatian Donna Vekic.

Meanwhile, No 8 seed Greek Maria Sakkari was eliminated following a 2-0 loss (6-4, 6-2) to Italian Jasmine Paolini, who will face either Kazakh Elena Rybakina or Polish Magdalena Frisch.

Also, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, seeded ninth, suffered an early exit, losing (6-4, 7-5) to Russian Anna Kalinskaya who will play the winner between No 3 seed US Coco Gauff and Czech Karol?na Pl?skova. (QNA)
