Washington, March 08 (QNA) – Inter Miami and fellow American side Nashville SC played out a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals.
Nashville’s goals were scored by Canadian player Jacob Shaffelburg in the 4th and 47th minutes, before Inter Miami equalized through Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Uruguay’s Luis Suarez.
It wasn’t a good start for Inter Miami at Geodis Park in Nashville, as they found themselves 2-0 down from the first half of the match, before Messi brought them back into contention by reducing the deficit in the 52nd minute with a fine strike from outside the box after a pass from Suarez.
Inter Miami had to wait until the 95th minute to avoid defeat, thanks to a headed goal from Suarez after the ball reached him from Spaniard Sergio Busquets, boosting their qualification hopes ahead of the second leg next Wednesday. (QNA)
