Doha, November 27 (QNA) – Portugal’s top defender Danilo Pereira fractured three ribs in training Saturday and will miss the remaining two group-stage matches of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Portuguese Football Federation said in a statement Sunday that the tests that Pereira underwent revealed a fracture of three ribs on the right side.

He indicated that the player will miss the Uruguay match Monday in the second round and then against South Korea next Friday, provided that he will undergo additional tests in the coming days that will determine whether he can play again if Portugal qualifies for the second round.

The Portuguese team leads Group H after beating Ghana 3-2 in its opening match last Thursday and will meet Uruguay Monday at Lusail Stadium in search of the second victory that guarantees its qualification to the round of 16.
