Rabat, September 27 (QNA) – The Board of the Central Bank of Morocco decided, during its meeting today in Rabat, to raise the main interest rate by 50 basis points to 2 percent.

The bank stated, in a statement issued after the third quarterly meeting of its board, that in order to avoid non-fixation of inflation expectations, and to ensure conditions for a quick return to levels consistent with the goal of price stability, the board decided to raise the main interest rate by 50 basis points to 2 percent.

The statement added that the bank will continue to closely monitor the economic conditions, at the national and international levels, especially inflation rates. (QNA)
