Rome, September 28 (QNA) – The European Commission has approved Italy’s second payment request for 21 billion euros to fund the national recovery and resilience plan after the Covid-19 pandemic, after Rome achieved the necessary reform steps.

“The Commission considers that Italy has made sufficient progress in the implementation of its national recovery plan to receive a second payment,” said the European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen.

The Italian recovery and resilience plan will be supported by 191.6 billion euros, 69 billion euros in grants and 122.6 billion euros in loans, 13% of which was disbursed to Italy in pre-financing in August 2021. Moreover, a first payment worth 21 billion euros was disbursed to Italy in April, 2022.

This second grant is divided between 10 billion euros of grants and 11 billion euros of loans. (QNA)
