Doha, November 17 (QNA) – HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai stated that since the State of Qatar won the bid to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 , the telecommunications sector in the State of Qatar has developed plans and implemented national projects that contribute to supporting the country’s efforts in achieving its goals and providing the best services to participants and fans, making their visit to the State of Qatar an exceptional event.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency, His Excellency added that Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in partnership with telecommunications service providers, has worked together to develop and expand the infrastructure of its communications networks to improve their efficiency while increasing their absorptive capacity. Along with introducing the 5G technology.
Furthermore, the networks of government and sports agencies, especially stadiums, have been strengthened with high-speed fiber-optic networks, to provide the best services during the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
He pointed out that the Ministry has also developed the capabilities of the Communications Regulatory Authority to monitor and manage the frequency spectrum, by developing monitoring and management systems that identify and reduce any source of interference on frequencies and satellite broadcasts, to ensure the best quality of communication services and audio-visual broadcasting services. By the requirements of FIFA, an automatic detection system for unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones) was built, to enable the Authority to monitor drones to protect communications networks from unauthorized radio emissions.
As for the media coverage, His Excellency indicated that the Communications Regulatory Authority partnered with various entities to provide satellite communications channels that enable international media institutions to broadcast events live all around the world.
Terrestrial broadcast stations and technical support teams for international media companies and institutions are present, with additional television channel frequencies ensuring continuity of broadcasting, which will not be interrupted during the hosting of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022.
He noted that the Ministry has also empowered cloud computing and emerged technology such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and data science to develop applications and platforms aimed at improving the operational efficiency of vital sectors in the country.

His Excellency stated that in order to provide the best services, the Qatar Government Contact Center operating under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will direct all the fans inquiries regarding the “Hayya” platform and program during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that have to do with housing, transportation, tickets and other matters of interest to participants and fans which will provide the necessary support to solve any issue they might be facing, and the center will provide its services in different languages through multiple channels.
In conclusion, HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology expressed his confidence that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be one of the best tournaments, thanks to the great preparations and types of equipment in which digital solutions and technology were used, which will contribute to the success that will contribute to enhancing the country’s digital economy.
