Doha, November 17 (QNA) – The “Zeenah” initiative stands out as a promoter of community participation in organizing an exceptional edition of the World Cup that will remain memorable in the minds of everyone, based on a purposeful vision that brings together all members and institutions of the community, and a belief in their effective role and prominent participation in celebrating Qatar and its hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022,
The initiative that works to beautify and decorate the facades of workplaces, schools, universities and real estate, in addition to squares, roads and other public services, was launched last June by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, Qatar Museums and the Central Municipal Council.

“Zeenah” seeks to highlight the festive manifestations in various parts of the country in preparation for hosting the World Cup and encourage government and private entities, municipalities and community members to express their celebration, in addition to marketing the big event, in line with the efforts of the State of Qatar to provide the best festive image to welcome visitors.

The initiative contributes to highlighting Qatar’s civilized face and raising the image of the country in front of the visitors of the World Cup, which is the responsibility of various State institutions, citizens and residents, and with the support of the whole society, Qatar proves to the whole world its ability to organize an exceptional edition of the championship.

The initiative includes two main axes, the first is the participation of all individuals, citizens and residents, to decorate their facilities or residential units, and the second is a competition for three categories in the country to decorate its facilities in a way that reflects the sporting event.

Participants in the initiative will be able to apply in different categories, including government and private entities, schools, universities, kindergartens, and municipalities, while the winners of the first three places for schools and kindergartens for each of the following age groups (kindergarten – primary – preparatory – secondary) will receive financial prizes.

As for citizens and residents, they can contribute by decorating their homes, and photos of their participation in this event will be displayed through dedicated platforms and electronic certificates, and their contributions will be documented as a legacy of this event. As for government, private entities and municipalities, they will be honored with certificates and commemorative shields, and their contributions will be documented as a legacy of this event.

Initial ideas and contributions to the initiative started arriving during July and August. The final image was received after implementation during last October, and the implementation of the works was completed, and the final image was delivered by the end of last October.

As for the participation of citizens and residents, their participation will be received until Nov. 17. Their participation in the initiative will be through decorating the facades and walls of their homes and private residential units with works of art, cosmetic lighting or other decorative works, provided that the conditions and guidelines related to participation are followed.

The organizers of the initiative set special conditions in decorating the facades of buildings, fences, external areas and all facilities, through the implementation of artwork, drawings, cosmetic lighting and other decorative works, as it is not allowed to use the logos of the World Cup, or logos representing famous brands, with the possibility of using the names and flags of participating countries, shirts of participating national team players or other things related to football and sports.

The jury, which will evaluate the contributions and participations in the initiative, includes members from each of the participating entities, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, Qatar Museums and the Central Municipal Council.

The suitability of the participating models will be assessed against the competition criteria, and the winners will be announced next January during the closing ceremony. (QNA)
