Algiers, December 20 (QNA) – The Algerian Energy Company Sonatrach signed here a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday with German gas trader VNG with the objective of studying the potential of co-operation to accomplish projects in the field of hydrogen and Green ammonia (NH3) that are set to be exported to Germany.

A statement from Sonatrach clarified that the primary focus will be on accomplishing a feasibility study, concerning hydrogen chain values that range from production and transference to marketing, in pursuit of assessing the potential of trade projects that will be developed together in this field.

In addition, Sonatrach is entirely engaging in an Algerian roadmap to develop the green hydrogen with the aim of launching pilot projects in the mid-term, as well as the network of international channels linking Algeria with Europe that can be utilized to transfer the green hydrogen, along with the availability of solar energy production capabilities allowing Sonatrach to engage in a long-term strategy to embody green hydrogen projects at competitive costs.
