Basra, January 06 (QNA) – The Qatar national team manager Bruno Miguel Pinheiro, stressed the great importance of the opening match against Kuwait in the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, tomorrow at Al-Minaa International Stadium in the Iraqi city of Basra, as part of the second group competitions, which also includes Bahrain and UAE.
“We have great ambition in the tournament, and we seek to present the best possible level in order to achieve the desired results, and to reach the farthest possible point, but we pay greatest attention to the next match,” Pinheiro said in the press conference about the confrontation, which was held today, adding: “We deal with confrontations separately, and therefore all our focus is currently on the first match tomorrow against the Kuwaiti team, which also has great ambition and seeks to win the tournament.”
He added that no one cannot compare between the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the Gulf Cup, as the two competitions are completely different, and the Qatari team is participating in Gulf 25 with a different squad combination with the presence of a large number of young players and others of Olympic age, as the management look forward to give these players expertise and experience for the sake of the future of the national team, but this does not mean that the team do not seek to win the matches, as its goal is to go far, as the technical staff trusts the players and the level they presented.
Pinheiro said that the time is not always enough for the coaches, and therefore the period that we worked with the players was short, especially in light of the recent developments, not to mention the special technical strategy that the staff is trying to implement with the players in the tournament, but we are confident that we can present a good level in the tournament.
