Riyadh, January 11 (QNA) – Qatar’s rally driver Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah onboard Toyota, retained the lead in the provisional overall standings for the car category of the forty-fifth edition of Dakar International Rally’s 2023, after finishing fourth in the stage 10.
The rally is being hosted by Saudi Arabia for the fourth consecutive time until Jan.15, with the participation of 820 drivers and navigators representing 68 different countries.
Defending champion; Al Attiyah and co-driver Mathieu Baumel covered distance of the stage 10 between Haradh and Shaybah amounting to 114 km, in a time of 1.54.17 hours a difference of 5.45 minutes from Frenchman Sebastien Loeb accompanied by his Belgian co-driver Fabien Lorquin who won the stage with a time of 1.48.32 hours.
With this victory, Al Attiyah continues to top the general rankings of the rally with a total time of 36.13.37 hours, and widened the difference to 1.21.34 hours from his closest competitor Brazilian Lucas Moraes who finished second with a total time of 37.35.11 hours, while Frenchman Loeb came in third place with a total time of 37.51.00 hours, 1.37.23 hours behind the leader Al Attiyah.
The rally competitions are scheduled to continue on Thursday with the start of the stage 11 between Shaybah and the Empty Quarter for a distance of 426 km (the special stage: 273 km). (QNA)
