Doha, January 11 (QNA) – Qatar SC achieved a big victory over Al Gharafa 5-0 in Week 9 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium on Wednesday.
Tall Congolese striker Malango struck in the 25th, 59th and 80th minutes. Javi Martinez (50th minute) and Bashar Resan (70th minute) were the other scorers.
The rollicking win, their fourth in the league, also saw Qatar SC move into the top four of the standings with 13 points from eight matches.
Qatar SC have a postponed match against Al Sadd from Week 8.
Al Gharafa, who suffered their third loss of the season, were pushed to fifth place with 12 points from nine matches.
Al Gharafa received the first shock of the match when Malango scored full stretch off a rebound and first clearance.
At 1-0 at half-time, the match was still even with Al Gharafa trying to make some inroads. But it soon changed drastically soon after the break as Martinez produced a beautiful header off a corner kick to shock the rival camp.
Malango then returned to score again, but not before his super connect off a Sebastian Soria cross was staved off by Al Gharafa goalkeeper Yousef Hassan.
Up 3-0, Qatar SC were on a rampage, attacking at a fast pace as well, and in one such move Bashar Resan made most of a fine cross to fire in from the top of the box that beat the goalkeeper a long way to his right for the teams fourth goal.
The evening was then capped by Malangos hat-trick, the goal coming off a corner-kick deflection from Al Gharafa defender Saifeldeen Fadalla. The ball went straight to Malango, who was positioned well and had only to head just standing and he did it in style to celebrate a memorable day. (QNA)
