Baghdad, January 23 (QNA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al Sudani dismissed on Monday the governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, from his post.

A government source told Iraqi News Agency (INA), “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al Sudani decided to sack CBI Governor Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif of his post, at his request.”
The source added, “Prime Minister appointed Ali Mohsen Al Alaq.”
The decision came after the Iraqi currency lost its value in light of the significant increase in annual inflation in the country after raising the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar in the 2021 budget. (QNA)
