Doha, January 30 (QNA) – Al Rayyan returned to winning ways by beating Al Shamal 2-1 in Week 12 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Monday.
Al Rayyan thus advanced by one place to 10th with eight points, while Al Shamal remained on 10 points.
Yohan Boli (14th minute) and Osama Al Tairi (42nd minute) scored for Al Rayyan, while Al Shamal’s goal was scored by Loick Landre (45th minute).
The match started off strongly and Al Rayyan showed more keenness in order to win and improve their position in the table. And they succeeded in achieving it.
Al Rayyan went with full force, hoping to score an early goal that would help their cause and Boli gave them exactly that after the Ivorian striker received a cross from Mohammed Seraj.
The goal boosted their confidence even though Al Shamal put up a good fight.
The Lions doubled the lead through Al Tairi.
However, Al Shamal managed to pull one back in the last minute of first half through Landre’s good shot from outside the penalty area.
In the second half, Al Rayyan were the better side despite some missed opportunities by Boli and young Tamim Mansour Muftah.
As the match wore on, Al Shamal could not do much in their bid for an equaliser, as they failed to repeat their excellent performance at the beginning of the season.
