Doha, January 31 (QNA) – Al Rayyan SC announced today its official contract with the Moroccan international player Sofiane Boufal, coming from French Ligue 1 club Angers to join the ranks of the first football team during the Qatari league competitions “QNB Stars League” for the season 2022/2023.

The club confirmed, in a statement via its official Twitter account, contracting the 29-year-old player.

Boufal was part of Morocco’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 squad which made history as the first Arab and first African nation to ever make it to the competition’s semi-finals.

Before the World Cup, Boufal played 11 matches with his team in the French League, during which he scored only 3 goals.

Boufal won the award for best African player in the French League in 2016, as a culmination of his wonderful career with the club Lille before moving to the English ranks of Southampton in the summer of the same year. (QNA)
