Doha, January 30 (QNA) – The curtain came down on Monday on the 28th edition of the Qatar World Table Tennis championship held at Lusail Sports Arena for two weeks amidst great participation of ranked players and world champions from different countries
The tournament included three international tournaments: WTT Contender Doha 2023, WTT Feeder Doha 2023, and WTT Youth Contender Doha 2023, the final day of the tournament witnessed the holding of five finals in different categories of the youth Contender.

In the U-11 youth singles final, Laotian player Xaysana Xaysavath won the title after defeating American Abinav Prasanna (3-0).

In the U-15 youth singles, Korean Kwon Hyuk won the title after defeating compatriot Lee Seung-soo (3-1), Korean Yoo Yerin won the U-15 singles title, after defeating her compatriot Choi Seoyeon, 3-0.

Romanian Eduard Ionescu won the U-19 youth singles title, after defeating his compatriot Andrei Istrate (3-2), in the U-19 womens singles category, Romanias Elena Zaharia won the title after overcoming the Korean Lee Daeun (3-2).

President of Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) Khalil Al Mohannadi, praised the strong technical level of the tournament in its 28th edition, and said in a statement today after the coronation, that the Qatar Table Tennis Association is one of the few federations in the world that organizes this combined tournament, because this type of tournament needs double effort and a team with a lot of potential and experience.

Al Mohannadi concluded his statement saying that the coming period will witness the players free time, starting from Feb. 8, to compete in the league competitions, the Amirs Cup, and the Qatar Singles and Doubles Championships.

QTTA hosted during Jan. 2023, at Lusail Sports Arena the Asian qualifiers for the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships Finals in South Africa, with the participation of about 115 male and female players representing 20 countries, the Qatari team, Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi, Mohammed Abdulwahhab, qualified for the World Championship finals that will be held next May.
