Doha, February 01 (QNA) – Secretary-General of Qatar Tennis, Squash, and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) Tariq Darwish Zainal has stressed full readiness for hosting 31st edition of Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023 which will take place at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on February 20 – 25, 2023.
He added that the tournament will once again bring together some of the world’s top players, including Russian Andrey Rublev, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, Russian Daniil Medvedev, German Alexander Zverev and Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut.
The QTSBF Secretary-General pointed out that 6th seed Rafael Nadal announced his withdrawal from the tournament due to injury.
Zainal said that the ATP 250 Qatar ExxonMobil Open tournament will be held immediately after the conclusion of the WTA 500 Qatar Total Open tennis tournament, which will start on Feb. 13 and will continue until Feb. 18.
Qatar Tennis Federation and ExxonMobil Qatar have launched a series of promotional activities at a number of locations in Doha to mark the launch of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023.
The activities promote the tournament’s sustainability campaign theme for 2023 and can be found at stands in Villaggio, Doha Festival City from February 1, and Souq Waqif from February 5. They include a unique virtual reality game that gives participants an opportunity to capture carbon dioxide for storage and help fight climate change; a game of shoot the PET (polyethylene terephthalate) fully recyclable bottles into a hoop; and a game of choose your sustainability banner message to win fun prizes.
Vice President and Director of Government and Public Affairs for ExxonMobil Qatar Saleh Al Mana, Secretary General of QTF Tareq Zeinal, and Tournament Director Karim Alami launched the promotional activities.
“We are very pleased to announce the start of promotional activities for the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023 with our partner the Qatar Tennis Federation,” said President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar Dominic Genetti. “The activities are fun, engaging and open to the public – they’ll promote the tournament and its sustainability theme and also give people a taste of what’s to come in February.”

The Qatar ExxonMobil Open is a much-awaited event that hosts some of the biggest names in tennis, and attracts thousands of tennis fans from around the world. It has been selected by players as the ATP 250 Tournament of the Year on five occasions (2015, ’17, ’19, ’21-’22). Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have won multiple titles at the event. (QNA)
