London, March 31 (QNA) – Liverpool achieved a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brighton in the English Premier League, securing the top spot in the overall standings.

The Reds benefited from the goalless draw between Arsenal and Manchester City in the final match of the 30th round of the Premier League.

In the first match, Liverpool turned around a one-goal deficit against Brighton into a valuable win with two goals to one at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool.

Brighton took an early lead through Danny Welbeck in the 2nd minute. However, Colombian player Luis Diaz equalized for Liverpool in the 27th minute, and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah secured the win for his team with the second goal in the 65th minute.

In the second match, the top-of-the-table clash between Manchester City and Arsenal ended in a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, favoring Liverpool in the title race. (QNA)
