Doha, October 31 (QNA) – Qatar University (QU) announced the launch of the Innovators in Education project, as part of QUs leading role in promoting innovation and supporting initiatives.

The Innovators in Education project contributes in achieving the vision of both the College of Education, represented by the National Center for Education Development, and the College of Engineering.

The inauguration ceremony was held yesterday, in QUs College of Education building, in the presence of a large number of interested parties, including deans, faculty, students and number of educational leaders and teachers from local schools in Qatar, as well as representatives from the project sponsor, Exxon Mobil.

The project is a unique initiative that aims to promote creativity and innovation and encourage educators and higher education students to find educational resources that support student learning, stimulate excellence in the educational process, and achieve intellectual development and constructive cooperation among members of the educational community.

In a statement on the occasion, Dean of the College of Education Dr. Sheikha Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani said, “The project is an important contribution by the College to support the talents and creative capacities of students and to enhance their abilities to innovate, to qualify them as leaders of the future.”

Dean of the College of Engineering Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji said, “Through this project, we will work to support and discover talents, in order to develop and invest in them. We aim to do this by taking advantage of the College of Engineerings Technology Innovation and Engineering Education (TIEE).”

He adds, “Through this project we will try to support all emerging initiatives and innovations and provide the consultations they need, in order to ensure their continuity, success and development, in an effort to support and promote a culture of innovation and excellence in the field of education.”

Director of the National Center for Educational Development, Dr. Huda Salem Al Kubaisi praised the efforts of the project team and said, “The Innovators in Education project is a catalyst for innovation for all educators, whether in the university or school community, and for all university students.” Dr. Huda also expressed her appreciation towards the project sponsor ExxonMobil for their support.

It is important to note that the deadline for receiving entries is Dec. 25, 2022 and Jan. 26 2023 to confirm participation. The project delivery deadline is on Mar. 23 2023 and the honoring ceremony for winners is on May 10, 2023.
